We've been borrowing the neighbours' wi-fi for the past week. >_>; Supposedly we're going to have our own internets on Monday, so please look forward to streams ...

... in between getting a shared bank account with [tumblr.com profile] alias-pseudonym, getting shoes purchased / repaired, and meeting up with an old friend.

In today's stream of Atelier Ayesha Plus, we made it from our tiny cottage in a meadow all the way to the big city, where we hope to find out more about the mysterious flower that blooms where our sister disappeared.

Along the way, we met some ... interesting characters!

At 10 PM Eastern on Sunday we're returning to Fate/EXTELLA, to discuss a previous cutscene before continuing Altera's route. This will contain major spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the rest of the game, so you may wish to review a Let's Play or the archives before tuning in.

Don't forget to subscribe to our channel and turn on notifications, if you want to hear us narrate these games ^^; Or view today's Atelier stream!

We've been having a lot of fun streaming Fate/EXTELLA over on our Twitch channel. It's silly, funny, and extremely gay, in the "girls doing it with other girls" sense. But it's also very dramatic, and on our first playthrough it made us cry so hard. For all these reasons, it is our favourite game ever.

But not everyone likes tears and shock. Frankly, not everyone can take it, especially with everything that's going on right now.

With that in mind, starting this Saturday evening at 10 PM Eastern we're going to stream a much fluffier and more soothing game: Atelier Ayesha Plus, the improved version of the first game in the Dusk trilogy.

During a recent stream of Fate/EXTELLA, a musou action game + extremely gay visual novel I've been streaming, one of our viewers pointed out that something a love interest did was abusive.

We acknowledged this as soon as we saw the comment, and once we were done with that scene we paused the game to discuss it with the chat. The goal wasn't to make excuses for the game and the character, but to validate the concerns that this viewer raised, and to acknowledge that yes, this was problematic.

We've watched streams before where everyone seemed to be okay with something that triggered or unnerved us, and it's a really bad feeling. We may lose some (hypothetical) viewers from having these discussions, but I like to think that the ones who are invested enough in our streams to let us know when they're uncomfortable are worth keeping.

Click here if you can't see the Fate/EXTELLA trailer.

If that interests you at all, you can subscribe to our stream here, or view our Fate/EXTELLA series from the beginning. Our next stream will be tomorrow, Monday April 17, at 9 PM EDT, and will last about an hour and a half. We're happy to answer questions and explain context behind what's going on.

Be sure to turn off all the lights from 8:30 to 9:30 PM in your time zone, today, unless doing so would be unsafe.

Also, feel free to tune in or subscribe to our Twitch channel! We'll be streaming at 8 PM Central. It's a little bare-bones right now, but we're archiving our Fate/EXTRA streams under "Videos" and our viewers usually get lively discussions and character speculation going.

Did you know our entire streaming setup (a fanless laptop, a capture card, and a PSTV) uses barely any power? We're doing our part to save energy ~

EDIT: Turns out we're actually getting started closer to 8:45 PM Central. Whoops! Don't forget to turn out the lights ~

It's the visual novel / JRPG that we linked to, in the post on the historical foxwoman experience. You can watch us on Twitch, this Monday at 7 PM Central time.

We've already cleared Tamamo's route, so we're streaming New Game+ with a different Legendary Soul, an imperious swordswoman in a red dress. Who was she when she was alive? Who knows! The Fate series likes to genderbend, so that alone doesn't narrow it down.

CONTENT WARNING

May contain fanservice, bisexual flirting, existential horror, and brutal emotional violence. Also, we swear sometimes and cough a lot.

Today I went grocery shopping, and picked up a bunch of basic Japanese cooking ingredients to experiment with: Red miso, mirin, nori, kombu (sadly not in a salt-shaker), a bundle of scallions / green onions, and three types of noodles. I also picked up some disposable chopsticks to practice with, and some "cup noodle" type things to calibrate flavours and use as inspiration.

I then proceeded to spill a bowl of soup all over my lap, my desk, and the floor.

Fortunately, the damage to my books seems minimal, and I was able to successfully eat a bowl of instant miso soup after moving it up to the table. The noodles were slippery and rubbery, and it was not very good, but how's that for a learning experience?

Also life update stuff

Trying to focus on positive things here. Having trouble getting the correct gender marker on our passport, which is causing some stress and anxiety. Consulted with an immigration lawyer by Skype, along with [tumblr.com profile] spinecrawlerrush. It was educational, and I think I know what to do in order to prepare an application.

Our revised plan: Visit in January, wedding and move in this summer, when we can hopefully get a place together with our friend / future sibling-in-law. The Canadian immigration process may take about a year or more from that time, so we'll have to try to stay there by renewing a tourist visa in the meantime.

Wish us luck ... I hope you're all doing okay. I'm still working on the next story, and streaming a few times a week on Twitch. You can sign up to get email notifications of streams that you follow, if you'd like to watch Tales of Graces F.

And our system has, in fact, been updated! We're now using a refurb of last year's fanless, 12-inch MacBook, and it's the most beautiful thing we have ever owned. Everything works so elegantly and consistently, we've had fewer frustrations than ever, and OS X is amazing -- you can assign new keyboard shortcuts to any item in the menu.

(App recommendations: iA Writer, and Notes. Yes, the Notes app that comes with a Mac.)

We want to learn Swift, and AppleScript, and page layout / ePub formatting in Pages and iBooks Author, and you don't actually want to hear about any of this. ^^;

What's more important, at any rate, and had an even huger impact on our life, was being able to spend about two weeks with Alias. We love it so much <3 and we took lots of pictures, although we've only posted most of them in a private Facebook group, composed entirely of Alias' family and their significant others. (We're really camera-shy, and we assume that others are as well.)

We played a lot of minis games, though. ^^; And Final Fantasy XIII. Turns out the reason we haven't done much console gaming lately is because there's been no one to share it with >_>; So now we're starting to experiment with streaming games on Twitch, and considering getting a capture card for our old consoles which don't let us do that natively.

... is that something that anyone here would be interested in watching?

Anyway, we're trying to get back into a regular schedule and form some good habits, which is hard without external reinforcement. >_>; And we keep thinking of how to reformat this blog ... with like, index pages of our stories, essays, and games. And maybe a consistent theme, of self-acceptance and learning how to express yourself. It's what we've needed the most talking-through, and it's what we've been wanting to help people with since our old Become Your Fursona stories.

Which we still have, and are considering formatting some of them for ebook stores. Maybe.

We're also hoping to be able to visit Alias in person up in Canada, towards the end of the year. It's scary talking about building a life and a future together, but it's also exciting to feel like this is a thing that can actually happen.
