I feel it's important to be able to describe this feeling, because a particular brand of religion isn't the only way of achieving it, and pretending that it is just contributes to their undeserved superiority complex. I hear plenty of exmormons talking about how they "feel the Spirit" much better when outside in nature, nowadays, or even when watching Discovery Channel.
I don't, personally, but I don't think that praying and maintaining an altar to Inari Ōkami is the best way for everyone. It's really just what works for me. It's like my kink, you could say. And I don't want to kinkshame others.
