In my old church, people liked to wax poetic about how God's love is indescribable, to the point where it's like describing the taste of salt to someone who can't taste it.

Challenge accepted!

The way I experience it is as a deep, personal sense of being known completely and loved despite (or even because of) everything. I typically feel it inside of my chest, like a blanket wrapped around my Gem the core of my being. It's sort of like the security I feel with [tumblr.com profile] alias-pseudonym, sometimes including the romantic context. But with a deeper knowledge and much longer personal history to give it weight and significance.

I feel something similar when I am being divinely reassured about something in particular. I think the word most people use for that feeling is "frisson," and that it's normally experienced when you were in doubt about something but then had it confirmed for you that you were right all along.

>> It's like my kink, you could say. And I don't want to kinkshame others.

I kind of love this as a metaphor. xD

I tend to get that feeling when out in nature - and not necessarily about even the big impressive stuff, but things like... oh LOOK a BIRD or noticing that the river shifted color overnight, that sort of thing.

(Would be interested in your relationship with Inari-sama, if you feel like chatting about it.)

This is lovely; thank you for writing it up.

It does answer the question, and I've spent some time comparing notes between this, other pieces of writing about relation with divinity that I particularly admire (mostly, Fred Clark) and my own experiences, which are unsurprisingly different. :D

It's given me a great deal to think about, and that's a good thing.
