It sounds like you've started to strike a good balance to me. ^^ I'm working on this too - albeit from a different angle. For a long time, video games were forbidden fruit, and then they were heavily restricted fruit instead. (This may have been normal, I am somewhat lacking in context.)

Electronics can be fun! And they can last really well, and it sounds like you take good care of them. (Truth: I have also poured fruit juice on a laptop by mistake. I was trying to show someone on the webcam the contents of a bowl, and it was unexpectedly juicy.*)

>>There are so many Kickstarters and Patreons, you guys.

Oh my gosh, yes. >_> I love finding things by indie artists, things that just need..a little... more... to fly, and also things that chime with my interests but can't get enough people behind them to go mainstream. Stories unlike what I can find in the one sorry bookstore left to this little town, which carries the literary equivalent of Oscar movies and some really nice nonfiction. Art of all forms, particularly that which isn't white cisdude power fantasies. (Also, Reaper Bones, because they are SO fun to paint.)

If you had a Patreon, I would put money toward it. ^^

I'm particularly fond, as a backer, of the option where the creator gets a monthly donation regardless of what they've made - not because the cost-per-art drops as the artist makes more, but because if they have a month where they can't make anything, they still get paid.

*Unexpectedly Juicy would make a great band name, if that silly meme is still funny.
