This is just a quick note to let everyone know that

  1. We're back from Calgary, and
  2. We haven't sorted vacation photos yet!

It was a lot of fun, though, getting to visit with [tumblr.com profile] alias-pseudonym and my siblings [tumblr.com profile] thatnerdlord and [tumblr.com profile] blankselfportrait. We never did GM Fate for everyone, but we're still planning to, and we played Dungeon Quest or some other roguelike at an actual board game café!

Also, Alias bought me a Kobo Aura! I've been going through their Canadian store and picking out a lot of educational material. The first book I've been reading is The Right To Be Cold, where an Inuit woman explains how climate change is destroying their way of life. I feel like it's required reading for anyone living in (or moving to) oil country. >_>;

Finally, speaking of global calamities, I suddenly want to play Wind Waker.

Stay tuned for photos, and also an update on the DW SU RP we were planning before the trip (and before destroying our laptop)!

Hmm. Reading the article, it sounds to me like the world in Wind Walker is dying, and it's the fault of Ganondorf. I don't believe he actually intends to fix his mistakes, but if he did... I'm not sure he would be the bad guy. Not because it's our right to manipulate the environment for our own ends, but because if we injure something, don't we have a responsibility to set it right?

I guess it depends on how stable this new world is. From what the article said it sounds like the ocean itself was made toxic.
